The Opportunity!...

The concise Oxford English dictionary defines Opportunity as a favorable time or set of circumstances for doing something.

Soon or later you will come to realise that, opportunities come to you by virtue of your disposition in life.
It could be your Spiritual disposition, mental disposition, intellectual disposition, social disposition or physical disposition.

Your spiritual disposition however, by far provides you with greater opportunities and in fact creates and also overrides other dispositions. That’s why it is very important for us to be very sensitive to the Holy Spirit the source of our spiritual disposition

Jesus Christ was very effective in His ministry because He was extremely sensitive to the holy spirit and the results of His ministry speak for themselves and we as his disciples ought to emulate Him if we are to have an impact in our communities and maximize the opportunities that will be presented to us by reason of our spiritual disposition

An opportunity is like a window that opens and closes, and it’s for you to recognize when its open and take maximum advantage of it. Most of the time our missed opportunities come as a result of taking things for granted until it’s a little bit too late and that is later followed by regrets. Have you heard of the " I wish I knew" phrase? I am sure you have, perhaps you used it yourself.

Well, we can to a large extent avoid that phrase by;

Positioning ourselves for opportunity and make sure that we don't miss out and hence take maximum advantage of it(opportunity) when it appears along our path; which to be honest, will be quite often. Here are four keys to help you position yourself.

1. Continuously monitor your spiritual health and make sure that you keep fit spiritually, pray often, fast, spend a minimum of One hour a day being quiet before God and be attuned to the Holy spirit

2. In all you get make sure that you seek to get understanding as well, and do not delay to take action on the inspirations and insights you receive. Those inspirations and insights may well be and in most cases are, God's word(rhema) for you! And the wise person will take action on the word of God - being a doer rather than just a hearer of the word.

3. Know your environment and be very sensitive to it, that is; pay attention to the details, it’s always small changes that make the biggest difference

4. Give no room for chance, when you recognize an opportunity, maximize it and more opportunities will come rushing through that open door.

In life as remarked earlier on, opportunities are availed to all of us; however it’s our duty to recognize it and our responsibility to make the most of it. Gravitate towards your opportunities with audacity.

No wise person will condemn you for taking advantage of your opportunities, I am particularly reminded in scripture; the woman who had the issue of blood and when she recognized her opportunity to be healed, she was relentless and determined "She said if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole" Mark 5:28.

There was also blind Bartimaeus on being told that Jesus was passing by saw his opportunity to be healed and cried out ‘JESUS!! Thou Son of David, have mercy on me’ Luke 18: 37 and when many charged him that he should hold his peace, boy! he could not take any of that; He cried the more a great deal!

What happened? he was attended to.

In the 21st century, Barack Obama saw an opportunity to revive the American dream and boldly declared’ YES WE CAN’ and today he is the president of the United States of America.

Note that, the window of some specific opportunities only opens for a certain period of time and will surely close any time without warning. You therefore have to act and act fast while it is still open.

You will appreciate the fact that over the course of your life time, you will be presented with circumstances and situations where you will have the opportunity to either do good or to do bad. The choice is entirely yours, however, you ought to be aware that there are consequences/rewards for which ever choice you take.

As we therefore have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith’ Galatians:6:10 that should be a good use of opportunity. Contrast the statement in the preceding scripture with what Judas did in Mathew 26:16-‘And from that time, he sought opportunity to betray him’ and the consequences of that betrayal was that he hanged himself!

Worth noting as well is the fact that,

every day is an opportunity to make tomorrow better, as for long as you have today, you have the power to influence tomorrow for the better.

Don’t let yourself down, everyday is loaded with opportunities and the greatest of all opportunities is salvation! its the best free gift you can ever receive and your full spiritual disposition depends on you having received this wonderful gift.

The opportunity for salvation is available everyday till Jesus comes back as King, but, hey, don't wait till then to receive it, it sure will be too little too late. Now is the time, today is the day for salvation.
If you are not sure of how to go about maximising this opportunity, go here: Romans 10:9

Till next time, be sure to look out for one another, God bless you folks.
